04.10.2016 - The RBA has left the interest rate at 1.50%
Today the Reserve Bank of Australia decided not to lower interest rates at the current minimum level in the history of 1.50%. The central bank continued to positively evaluate the growth prospects of the economy, but at the same time pointed at preserving the possibility of further reduction in interest rates if necessary. RBA reduced interest rates twice this year, but we do not expect further easing of monetary policy before the end of the year. According to our estimates, the potential growth of the Australian currency has dropped significantly and we expect a soon start of decline with the closest targets at 0.7450 and 0.7250.
